Where Is God When We Get Disappointed?

Greetings to everyone. I'm sorry I couldn't post anything yesterday, I had a little challenge which shook me to the marrow, and I don't mind sharing it with you. The post title has summarized the whole idea, but I'd still go into details so you can learn from it.

First of all, I love my dear country Nigeria, though we have lots of problems we're dealing with. However, due to the fact that we're a growing overpopulated nation, our academic institutions have several lapses in the basic infrastructures. So, here is it, my school (I'm sorry, I wouldn't like to mention the name due to some ethical reasons), ok, my school has problems with accommodation, I mean hostel accommodation, so like 15 students have to compete for just one bed space, you can imagine. Well, somehow I didn't get one. Actually, that wasn't what shook me, it was the fact that I knew I had God on my side and I still couldn't get what I was of a truth entitled to. So do you get the gist now?

A lot of us after meeting Jesus feel God is obligated to make every of our dreams and wants come true. We think "I'm a Christian, and I'm sure God loves me, but why don't I have this or that, or such basic thing as shelter?". Of course, we're right to think that, at least the bible told us the Lord shall supply all our needs according to Christ's riches in glory, Phillipians 2:9. But, The Holy Spirit is saying something, and it is that you should stop asking God "why me?" Instead, ask Him "To what end, Lord?". I read a book titled "where is God when it hurts" by Phillip Yancey, about three months ago, and I learned there to always foresee the future and ask God what He wants you to see in the trial or disappointments you are going through.

From now, start to concentrate on what God wants you to learn from whatever comes your way, rather than concentrating on why it had to happen to you. Someone said the phase of disappointment if not managed goes thus: from denial, you go to anger, then to depression, and finally acceptance. As Christians, we don't have to go through those phases, but we should move from whatever phase we are now to seeking God's face and learn what it is He wants to teach us from our disappointments.

May God give us all the grace to learn fully what He wants us to learn in every of our disappointing situations in Jesus Name. Shalom
