9 Traits Of Pride You Never Thought You Had
Pride, according to NLT Bible dictionary is inordinate self-esteem or treatment of others. Pride is one of the works of the flesh according to Galatians 5:19-20. I agree with you that you are not proud, but you would be surprised to see you still have some elements of pride in you as you read on. I've tried to make this as personal possible to everyone. So, mind the pronoun 'I' used.
1. Pride is when I think of myself more important than others. I feel like I'm better than everyone else, therefore I should be the centre of attraction everywhere I go.
2. I have pride if taking corrections from others is, even to the barest minimum, an issue to me.
3. I have pride if everything I ever want to be everywhere I go is the first.
4. I have pride if I feel disrespected whenever someone doesn't call me by my title(s).
5. I have pride if I have to do things my way only, and not care what the opinion of others might be.
6. I have pride if I feel uncomfortable whenever the subject "pride" is brought up.
7. I have pride if I just cannot accommodate or tolerate others.
8. I have pride if all I ever talk about in a conversation is myself. I look for any means to make my voice the loudest and talk about the kind of food I eat, how many figures I earn, etc., please who asked me?
9. I have pride if I get worried about what others would think of me, and in some way unconsciously, discard what the Almighty is saying.
Hello? Are you guilty of any of the above? Then I want you to cry to God to help you overcome your pride, and to remain humble at all times. And for you who are not guilty of any of the above, I want you to know that the list is endless. Besides, humility is not a one time thing, it is something that has to be practiced for life.
Morealso, remember that pride goes before a fall. One issue God just cannot tolerate is pride, He disowned even His own because of that, Isaiah 2:6-9. May God help us to eliminate every trait of pride in us and remain humble in Jesus Name. Shalom.
