Is The Best Of Your Time For God Or Self?
Generally, when we hear about giving one's best to God, we most likely think money. This is a misconception, as money is just a little bit of what you can give to God. For instance, you can give God your time. But then, the best of your time is not a function of the duration, rather it is the quality. The best of your time is not when you are muzzled up with several activities, nor when you are less to concentrate on God, but instead, the best of your time is when your mind is settled, that is, when you are more likely to concentrate on God.
Many Christians try to just hurry and patch things up with God so that they can at least feel justified, forgetting that God is never in a hurry, and neither can anybody hurry Him up. Besides, He is a God of protocols, He is principled and disciplined, so He expects the same from us. God deserves the best of our everything, again, it's not a function of number, see the story of the widow that gave above everyone else (Luke 21:1-4).
As a case study, I'm a college student who resumes lectures as early as eight in the morning, I get involved in so many activities, attend fellowship services, read my books, do assignments, cook, do my laundry, and so on. If because of these reasons I have no quality time for God, then I'm just unserious. Some of us claim to be 'too' busy to have quality time for God, I hope we know that there are great men of God who are more busy but still spend quality time with God. Actually, the more quality time we spend with God, the more He also spends for us. No one is ever as busy as God, yet He still spends time looking for those to fellowship with.
As earlier stated, God is principled, you cannot expect Him to reveal Himself to those who don't have time for Him. Therefore, from now, stop saying you don't have time, because you do, you have more than enough even. Remember, you are a slave to whatever you let control you (Romans 6:16). Don't let time control you, instead, you control time.
May God help us to create quality time for Him out of the abundant time He has freely bestowed on us in Jesus name.
Shalom.
