5 Steps To Effectively Manage Your Time

Time has always been an issue to many including myself, in such a way that we often complained of how insufficient 24hours in a day is. You see, actually, God knows that 24hours is more than enough for every man each day. We are the ones who fail to effectively take charge of the time, instead it is the time that has taken charge of us. Well, below are 5 steps the Holy Spirit wants us to take in order to have a very productive day.

1. SET UP YOUR PRIORITIES. In a day, there are so many activities lined up for you, but it is not everything you have to do. For each day, try to draw your scale of preference with the Holy Spirit as your guide, with your pen and paper in hand, don't just scribble it in your mind, trust me you would end up wasting 24hours over nothing. Doing so many things would make you really spent, and only when you are so tired and sleepy would you remember you didn't even spend time with God that day.

2. YOU ARE A SLAVE TO ANYTHING YOU LET CONTROL YOU. Romans 6:16 is one of my favorite verses of the Bible. Anything you let dictate to you what you should do becomes your master (husband is permitted tho, to be a master, not a dictator!). So, if you allow the time dictate to you what you must do per time, it means you have already become a slave of time. Why do you think the wristwatch is worn on the wrist, exactly where handcuffs are worn, huh? Ok, I'm just kidding, wristwatch is not the same as handcuffs, but then, control your time, dictate to time what you want. For instance, tell your time that it doesn't matter what it is saying, I'm gonna achieve this. Time is what tells us to go to bed, it is what tells you the day is over, how can the day be over when God hasn't said it is over? As a matter of fact, my own day extends till 2:00am, and I don't mind what Mr Time thinks of it. So brethren and sisthren, control your time, with God leading you.

3. BE CONSISTENT AND DELIGENT. Being diligent is doing the right thing at the right time, and consistency is doing the right thing at the same time. Though, our actions per time should be directed by the Holy Spirit, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't be organize. Our God is a God of orderliness, so as His children, let us emulate orderliness. If you have decided to always pray at a certain hour, please remain faithful to it. If you have also decided to read, sleep, cook, at a certain hour of each day, please try to stay faithful to it. For example, every real church have their service time, and they stay consistent, do your local church change service time every Sunday? Of course not, God shouldn't be kept waiting. So, we are the church, let us learn to be diligent and consistent in everything we do.

4. YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY YES TO EVERYTHING. For someone like me, "no" is something I learned the hard way to say, and still learning it. The issue is, you just cannot please everybody, and He who you should consider pleasing first is God. You really don't have to go for every occasion, and you can be sure that very few would even notice your absence. But this doesn't mean you should now surround yourself with 'NOs', don't be the one that brings negativity into the atmosphere. In essence, let God guide you to chose the right programs. Instead of immediately throwing a 'yes' at someone, just tell them, "I'd also like to be there, but I need to talk to God first about it, I hope you don't mind?" Or "Thanks, but I'd have to run through my schedule to see if I'm able to make it". That way, you have been polite, and at the same time excused yourself from their must-come list (lol, 'must-come' indeed).

5. ALWAYS PLAN YOUR DAY. This is actually an advice from me, "have a to-do journal". Whether your quiet time with God is in the morning or at night, involve God to plan the next day. Make your list, your prioritized list of course, and you would be surprised at how much organized that day would be for you. Besides, you would even find it difficult and embarrassing to sleep without completing your to-do list.

So, conclusively, thanks for reading up to this point, it proves you are organized, diligent, and consistent. And I do hope this would help you manage your 24 hours effectively. God bless you. Shalom
