10 Reasons Why You Should Quit Seculars
Yesterday, I made a post on 'the battle with secular music', and really I've received quite a few queries based on it. Someone even asked me how I know the names of secular musicians if I don't listen to them. Well, all I can say is, the Spirit of God in me won't let me agree with secular music. Through the Holy Spirit, I compiled these 10 reasons why seculars aren't a wise choice for you as someone who is seeking to grow in the faith.
1. First and foremost, would Jesus listen to seculars? Or would He encourage you to have them on your mobile devices? The answer is NO.
2. You are an ambassador of Christ, so do the things that show you are an ambassador and not just an hypocrite, Colossians 3:17.
3. Secular music in no way preach Christ, and if there be anyone that does, check if it is doing so for the principal aim of spreading the gospel, and not just some publicity stunt.
4. Seculars are worldly. We are in the world but not OF the world, John 17:16.
5. Seculars gradually make you configure to this world through their worldly lyrics, when you know that you are on a pilgrim journey here, 1Peter 2:11.
6. Seculars in no way, make you set your heart on the things above, Colossians 3:2.
7. Seculars are based on mere lustful pleasures and fantasies, 2Timothy 2:22.
8. Seculars though make you feel good, they are not the kind of good from God. Its just physical pleasure that yields nothing, Proverbs 21:17, Eccl 7:4b.
9. Seculars don't edify your Spirit in any way, rather, they bring you down the spiritual ladder if you know what I'm saying, 1Peter 2:2.
10. Finally, seculars do not glorify God. If there's even anything we do that doesn't glorify God, I think it's just not worth doing at all, Romans 4:20.
On this note (Colossians 3:16-17), I rest my case on seculars. But if you still don't agree with this, then you need to check the root of the matter with you exactly, because God is not the author of confusion. Is it that you just cannot let go of the pleasures the world is offering you, or you have not really made up your mind to follow Jesus and Him alone?
Have a blessed week. Shalom.
