Things You Shouldn't Do In Church

Last week Thursday, I was in the Bible Study in my fellowship, and while the message was being preached, I rested my head on my thigh (bending forwards to rest my head, with my arms as support on my thigh), you get what I mean right? I wasn't exactly sleeping though, but in that position, I appeared to have somewhat gone far away from the Bible Study.

Out of nowhere, the Bible Study secretary called me to answer a question! I couldn't even at that first instance comprehend the question, so, I asked him to repeat himself, and guess what? The congregation busted out laughing. I didn't have much of an issue with that, not until the Bible Study secretary had to compare me with Eutychus right in front of everybody, (Oh My God!!!). That was quite unnecessary if you would ask me, you know, I wasn't even sleeping in the first place.

Alright, end of story.

One thing I (you) should try as much as possible NOT to do is sleep during a sermon, or Bible study, or rather, appear to be asleep, whichever ways in the church. It is not what Jesus would have exactly wanted from you during a service. Imagine how badly Jesus felt when the disciples couldn't keep watch and pray. He met them a third time, and he still found them fast asleep, but after he had tried his best to keep them awake, he told them simply, "Alright, sleep all you like" Matthew 26:36-46.

Friends, do not make Jesus fed up with waking you up. Don't even be found sleeping when you should not in the first place. Another lesson, is the story of the ten virgins. Agreed, they all slept, but had the foolish five of them remained awake, they could have realized on time what little fuel they had in their lamps, and the bridegroom would have met them prepared and ready (Matthew 25:1-13).

Always be prepared and ready, the trumpet might sound during that service, you don't want to wake up to see everyone gone to heaven, do you?

And as for our dearly beloved Brother Eutychus, he slept and fell from the window of a 3-story building, (lol), thank God Apostle was around. Are you still wondering if he died? Yes! He died! But yea, Apostle Paul woke him up from the forever sleep (Acts 20:9-12).

I hope you have learned something today? Please, do not attempt to sleep in church, and if you are in a church service right now, and reading this at the same time, you are so W-R-O-N-G. None of us would be like Brother Eutychus (with all due respect) in Jesus name, Amen.

Shalom.
