What Does God Really Say About Losing Weight? Sisters Get In Here!
What next after meeting Jesus?
Really, what is next after meeting Jesus? What is next is that you give up your own will and desire, and instead, live the new live God has put in you from the moment you accepted Christ as your LORD and Savior. A man's will may be to be the richest in the world, but after meeting Jesus, such a man has but to let go of his own will and desire, and then come unto Jesus to know what plans the LORD already has in store for him.
Earlier today, I mentioned losing weight and stuff, and so, from the various responses I got, right now, I have been brought to repentance. For some of we ladies, our will is to attain that imaginary perfect figure so to speak, at least for those of us who are plus sized. But, really, what is God's opinion on that subject matter? Is it part of His will for you to be termed "Miss Curvy", or should that still be your goal even after meeting Jesus?
I would want us to note that this flesh is merely mortal in nature, it has an expiry date, and it would die and decay one day. So why should we labor so hard on what we are sure is gonna decay one day? You know what God demands instead? It is that you give yourself wholly to Him. And giving Him yourself means you have no say over yourself again, He has the final say. We ladies spend several hours working out in a week, yet if anyone asks us how regularly we pray, words become scarce commodity. While for some who haven't yet found the enthusiasm to spend hours at the gym, what they do is wishful thinking, all day....
You know, we can actually train our spirit man instead, that is, by studying the Scriptures, praying, fasting, and so on, rather than spend those precious moments training the flesh. Now I can tell why most of the wife of the Pastors I know aren't so much bothered with their physical appearance. The so called models that we so much admire their physique do so as a part of their job, and last I checked, the great commission Christ gave to us is preaching the gospel. "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:14
So, is God saying it is a sin to lose weight? No! What He has said is that, as a godly daughter of His, you should not be concerned with the outward beauty, but rather clothe yourself with beauty that comes from within, the never fading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. This is how the holy women of old made themselves beautiful. They trusted God and accepted the authority of their husbands. 1Peter 3:3-5.
"And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice- the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him." Romans 12:1
However, if you are so desperate about losing weight, then please do it in a godly and honorable manner. And make sure it doesn't create an environment for the devil to also commence his training process in you, be wise!
"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is GOOD and PLEASING and PERFECT." Romans 12:2
I hope I have spoken to not just myself alone, but you today? God bless you. Shalom.
