Lead Us Not Into Temptation Dear Lord
The devil has never been happy with anyone who's met Christ, you know, I know, and the Lord knows this too. That is why the bible says we should be watchful and vigilant, for our adversary the devil goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1Pet 5:8). The percentage of Christians that face temptations is far greater than non-Christians. So, if you are a Christian who faces temptations, I'm glad to announce to you that you are not alone.
Temptations could originate from something you used to enjoy from your past, or a new development. Whichever ways, temptation is a part of the Christian life. As a result, Jesus showed us a perfect example of how we can successfully overcome temptations, using Himself.( Matthew 4:1-11). However, without prior knowledge of the word of God, I'm afraid overcoming temptations would be seemingly difficult.
Just recently, I met this guy on social media, good looking (OMG, he's TDH!), working class, but then, he told me blatantly he wasn't really into God, which was a big deal to me. As I've known over the years the trend of social media, you know, you meet someone you like, you fall in love (lust, as the case may be), you guys get to know each other, and before you know it, you are already together in bed. Hmm, that is social media for you. But because I know this, and I'm aware of God's take on it, I had no option than to flee the appearance of evil as in 1Thessalonians 5:22. I fled by just ending the journey of what Jesus would have tagged "lust of the flesh, featuring Dammy and Mr H, lol".
What I'm saying in essence is, when you have the knowledge of the word of God, intuitively, you are able to sight what temptation is, and you get out of it before it gets you into trouble. Although, not all friendship on social media is an appearance of evil, but you will know it if it is evil, I can't really explain how, but you certainly would know it.
Technically, there would have been nothing bad in it if Jesus had turned that stone into bread, of course he must have been hungry. But Jesus saw that it was all a trap, a temptation to make Him sin. He was able to tell what was temptation from what wasn't, at least he turned water into wine, he turned five loaves of bread and two fishes into what fed several thousands, the list is endless.
As a child of God, you must be able to tell what is temptation from what is gloryfying unto God, and there is no other 'how' except by knowing what it is God is saying, which is by making a habit of constantly reading your bible. Resist the devil, flee,... all that you need to know on overcoming that temptation is in your bible. Dear friend, please read it now. Shalom.
