Facing Your Insecurity

We all have one insecurity or the other in our lives, whether we have met Christ or not, and it could be very disturbing. Insecurity can come in different forms, from personal to societal, once it pounces on you, that's it! You become insecure for the rest of your life, except if, of course, you tell Christ to step into it.

While I was in high school, I was kind of on the imaginary list of (I don't wanna use the word 'ugly' cause I'm not!), well, I was on that list though, and really it was so bad for me. Although no one ever said it to my face, but in my mind, I was on that list, and seriously, trust me, that was one annoying insecurity. As mortal beings, we've been designed to be always self-conscious. Imagine, Adam and Eve were ashamed of their nakedness to the extent which they hid. So I'm asking, wasn't it just the two of them? Or were there other people pointing and laughing? I doubt.
But as we can see, even when there weren't other people save the animals, to scorn them, they still felt insecure. That is just to prove that insecurity is something that has been made to be a part of us as humans.

So how can we help it? Simply, by coming out to God. Though, God was not happy with Adam and Eve, he made provision for their insecurity by making them clothing from animal skin. If God could kill an animal for the sake of those who disobeyed him,(If I'm right, that was the first time an animal was killed), God had to shed the blood of an innocent animal to help their insecurity, how much more you whom are His sons and daughters..

But, first, you have to come out of that fear, and tell God what exactly is happening to you and how insecure you feel about it. For my insecurity in high school, I didn't know God could help me out of it, so I lived with that fear until God just decided to open my eyes. But, you don't have to wait as long as I waited before you get help. Insecurity has made some people commit suicide, I tell you, it's a very dangerous seed.

Mind you, insecurity is not restricted to beauty and looks alone, it could be anything. You could feel insecure about your academics, finances, marriage, relationships, or even your future. If you are insecure about your future or,always wondering what tomorrow would be like for you, please, let Jesus take the wheel. Allow him decide whom you would marry, where you would live, and what job you would do. Your worry won't solve a thing (Matthew 6:25-34).

So, if you are insecure about something, tell it to Jesus now, I bet you would be surprised at how calm you would be at the end of the day. Stop your worry, and just tell it to Jesus. And if you are not sure of how to talk to him, take a book and pour out your feelings in it. Jesus can read. Shalom.
