Eating Your Cake And Having It
Are you for Christ or the world? Ok, that's too easy. Everyone, I mean, people who have sincerely met with Christ are for Christ, and those who have not are for the world, you agree right? Good. But there are some people who have really, truly met with Christ but still find it somehow difficult to fully identify with Christ.
Indeed there are some situations that even as a Christian, it becomes very difficult and challenging to stand for Christ, except you don't want to be honest with yourself. See Peter for example, he knew Christ, proclaimed Him to be the son of the living God, yet he denied that same Christ, thrice, for that matter. No one is infallible, the problem is when you refuse to do something about your fall. Despite Peter's denial of Christ, his shadow still healed the sick, that happened because he did not remain in his fallen state, he sought mercy (I'm not talking about mercy here though).
"Defining 'denial', according to google simply, is asserting a statement or allegation is not true". Though, not necessarily denying Christ in literal terms, there are situations that would actually demand your denial of Christ or the word of God. Honestly, in situations like that, one can become really frustrated, because you know exactly what Jesus would have wanted you to do in that situation, but at the same time, you don't want to put yourself in a big mess with world. Is there really no way one can eat his cake and still have it, even in Christ? I'm glad to tell you there is a way in Christ. For example, as a student, you are asked to do some shady things in order for you to get success, and if you don't, its failure. As a Christian student, you decide to eat you cake by not complying with their rules, normally, you shouldn't have success since you jeopardized your means of getting it. But as one who trusts God for a good success, you became successful by grace. So tell me, didn't you eat your cake and still had it? The world is very good at making what is ungodly appear godly. As Christians, we ought to take our stand and say no to what is unpleasant to the Most High God. And God so good, He has made it a lot easier for us by giving us the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things, and guides us into all truth. Mind you, as at the time Peter denied Christ, the Holy Spirit wasn't yet in man, I think that explains why he was pardoned (Please, do not do that which he did).
For we who have God's Spirit living in us, we should be able to stand for Christ, and not just sit on the fence, because even the fence belongs to the world. So if you are on the fence, you are still for the world. In essence, if you are reading this now, and you are faced with a situation that needs you to compromise the bible, please tell yourself that, in Christ, you can eat your cake and still have it. Say no to lies and deceit, still have wealth. Say no to abortion, and still lead a great and fulfilling life. Reject the world's immoral ways of being beautiful, and still be a beauty to God. A mistake might have happened, fine, but don't make the mistake of remaining in that fallen state by going against God's word.
I ask again, are you for Christ or the world? May the Holy Spirit of God in us give us the grace to stand for Christ at all times in Jesus name.
Shalom.
