What Have You Done With The Little You Have?

As humans, our wants are insatiable, we're designed to keep wanting and wanting for more, as in Oliver Twist, :-). You taste a nice meal, and you crave for more, a man has sex and he desires more, one gets into power and he seeks for more, a lady earns money and still seeks more, the list is just endless. Most times, we fail to realize and acknowledge the little that we have, instead we spend more of our time complaining and wishing we had more. The Lord is asking you, "what have you done with the little you have?". This is the same question the master who gave talents to his servants asked on his return (Matthew 25:14-30). You wish to be a big business personnel, but you are not doing anything about it because you have little to start up with. How do you think God would multiply you if you are doing nothing? Anything multiplied by zero will always be zero. What is the little that you have? Start work on it and you would be surprised at how large it would turn out. ...

The Authority And You

Romans 13 talks in depth on how we are expected to behave with authorities because it is God who has placed them there.  Authorities are there for a reason, and as Christians, we ought to respect and obey them. When you disobey your leaders, or speak badly of them, you are actually insulting God. So, when next you want to disobey or disrespect anyone who is in a position of authority, whether Christian or not, remember it would be an insult to God's personality. You don't want to do that, do you? However, there is a thin line here, remember Daniel, and the three Hebrew boys in Babylon? Yea, right, they knew where, when, and how to draw the line. Let's think of it this way, it is very possible that Daniel and his friends weren't the only ones that knew God in their days, but apparently, they were the only ones who stood up for God to draw the line, why? Obviously it was because they knew God and were very obedient, they feared the Lord, even right from the very begin...

Dealing With Our Unbelieving loved Ones

Some people are blessed to have everyone in their families to be born again and true followers of Christ. But some of us are from families with mixed races, including the born again, the church 'goer', the pagan, and the atheist :). As a result, we constantly wish every member of our families would be born again, but sweetheart, if that could ever be possible, we can't do it by our power. We have to realize that nobody makes a man truly born again if not God Himself. Though we have a role to play, which is to continually preach and pray for them, but that doesn't guarantee an automatic repentance. I had to learn this in a hard way kind of. My dad falls into the pagan category, doesn't go to church, lives the opposite of what the bible says. To much worsen the case, from the onset, we have never been on the friendly terms, so it became very difficult to preach Christ to Him. One day, a quarrel happened between the both of us, and I called him a sinner to his face...

When You Are Envious Of Another Christian

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them" Romans 8:28 NLT. I believe we love God, because we obey His commands, and I believe we've been called according to His purpose for us. It doesn't matter whom we were, where we come from, or how we even met Christ. What matters now is that we are in Christ, and we have been called according to His purpose for us. If you agree with me on this, then I go on with what the Holy Spirit has for you today, "ENVY". As part of who we are, It is normal for us to notice those around us, and then get envious of those who are seemingly successful in what they are doing. Yes, they are Christians just like you, and you feel it's as though everything is in their favour alone. While that may be true, you have to understand that we all have different purposes in Christ. The troubles and trials you may be going through now are part ...

What Next After Falling Into Temptation?

In continuation to yesterday's post which was centered on overcoming temptation, the Holy Spirit wants to tell you about what would happen when you give in to temptation. Nowadays, we don't hear so much teachings on what happens if one falls into temptation, but surprisingly, the Bible talks in depths on it. "And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before. It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and reject the command they were given to live a holy life. They prove the truth of this proverb: 'A dog returns to its vomit.' And another says, 'A washed pig returns to their mud.'" 2Peter 2:20-22 NLT.  The first time I came across that verse, "mehnn" fear gripped me, as in, I was called to order immediately. Prior to that point, I was in a state where I was always comp...

Lead Us Not Into Temptation Dear Lord

The devil has never been happy with anyone who's met Christ, you know, I know, and the Lord knows this too. That is why the bible says we should be watchful and vigilant, for our adversary the devil goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1Pet 5:8). The percentage of Christians that face temptations is far greater than non-Christians. So, if you are a Christian who faces temptations, I'm glad to announce to you that you are not alone.  Temptations could originate from something you used to enjoy from your past, or a new development. Whichever ways, temptation is a part of the Christian life. As a result, Jesus showed us a perfect example of how we can successfully overcome temptations, using Himself.( Matthew 4:1-11). However, without prior knowledge of the word of God, I'm afraid overcoming temptations would be seemingly difficult.  Just recently, I met this guy on social media, good looking (OMG, he's TDH!), working class, but then, he told me ...

What You Need to Remain Godly

"By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence..." 2Peter 1:3-4 NLT.  Some people believe it is not possible to live a godly life, and if you are one of those people the verse above is meant for you. A lot of people say the reason why they are still sinners is because they think no one can be godly, so they would rather they remained in their sin. Well, it is a wrong notion that needs to be corrected, because God has given us everything that we need to live godly. But, we have received this by coming to know Him, that explains why those who are far from Him cannot be godly. You can't receive from Him when you know Him not. Are a Christian, but still find it very difficult to be godly? Its either you have not received what you need to be godly, or you have received it, but you have not yet taken your eyes...

Facing Your Insecurity

We all have one insecurity or the other in our lives, whether we have met Christ or not, and it could be very disturbing. Insecurity can come in different forms, from personal to societal, once it pounces on you, that's it! You become insecure for the rest of your life, except if, of course, you tell Christ to step into it. While I was in high school, I was kind of on the imaginary list of (I don't wanna use the word 'ugly' cause I'm not!), well, I was on that list though, and really it was so bad for me. Although no one ever said it to my face, but in my mind, I was on that list, and seriously, trust me, that was one annoying insecurity. As mortal beings, we've been designed to be always self-conscious. Imagine, Adam and Eve were ashamed of their nakedness to the extent which they hid. So I'm asking, wasn't it just the two of them? Or were there other people pointing and laughing? I doubt. But as we can see, even when there weren't other people ...

What Kind Of Seed Are You?

"Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the man scattering seeds: The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don't understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don't have deep roots, they don't last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God's word. The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God's word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced. The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God's word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!" Matthew 13:18-23 NLT.  So, in what category do you t...

Accepting Criticism

'Whoever stubbornly refuses to accept criticism will suddenly be destroyed beyond recovery" Proverbs 29:1 NLT. One thing, as humans, we find very difficult to accept is criticism. We don't like to hear people call us out and have our faults and mistakes pointed at us. Well, its a completely rational reaction. Like we read above, as Christians, criticism is something we should start to accept, and stop to condemn. Really, no one knows it all, and nobody Mr or Miss perfect. In a sense, you should be grateful someone is criticizing you for something you are doing, because it means you are somebody. I school in a medical school (lol, don't mind me, I'm a basic medical student), and we work on dead bodies, believe you me, no one ever criticizes those bodies (cadaver). Not to scare you anyway, but all I'm saying is, be glad somebody noticed what you did, because once you are dead, you stop being on the notice list of others, at least not before Jesus Christ comes. ...

A Clean White Toilet Seat

I'm going to describe two different types of toilet seats, and I would like you to choose the one you would prefer to use. The first toilet seat is, a gold plated one, very beautiful on the outside, but in it, is all manner of filth, enough feaces almost overflowing. The second, is an all white toilet seat, purified, with a clean water, that can almost be mistaken for a drinking water. Now choose, which do you prefer? The white? But the other is gold plated, do you really care what's on the inside? Why? Ok, the answer is obvious, everyone desires what is clean and pure. So does God.  God is interested in making you white, clean, and pure, and the world is also interested in making use of that which has been made pure. Apparently, God doesn't not make a man clean to abandon him, He makes them clean for His own use, which is to please and serve Him at His perfect time. The problem now is, the world also likes to make use of a clean man, but in a negative way entirely. Th...

Garments Better Than Designers

One of the most common trend of this day is to acquire and put on designer wears that enhances the outward beauty and appearance, and at the same time neglect the spiritual beauty which is more important. According to 1Peter 3:2-5, the holy women of old made themselves beautiful through a gentle and quiet spirit which is so precious to God.  The point is not to stop caring about your outward appearance, but it is that you should pay more attention to your spirit man. Do you not have a gentle and quiet spirit? Are you the type that gets angry at every little instance? Are you the type that boasts on how much you are worth? If your answer has been yes, and you are still running helter skelter to buy designers, then you are wrong. Instead why don't you just concentrate on having a gentle and quiet spirit through the Holy Spirit. Make yourself beautiful by the word of God, allow it pierce through your body, soul, and spirit, and let it take away the impurity in you by the renewal of ...

Can You Really Have that Eaten Cake?

In my previous post, with the help of the Holy Spirit, I talked about eating one's cake and at the same time still having it. I received a request asking to shed more light on the topic, which I'd be doing now.  Paul Brians, Professor of English at Washington State University, points out that perhaps a more logical or easier to understand version of this saying is, "You can’t eat your cake and have it too." Professor Brians writes that a common source of confusion about this idiom stems from the verb to have which in this case indicates that once eaten, keeping possession of the cake is no longer possible, seeing that it is in your stomach (and no longer exists as a cake) source: wikipedia.  By the law of nature, once you have eaten your cake, you cannot possess it again. I agree, but in Christ, I don't quite agree, and I'd explain. When the rich man (Matt 19:16-21) met Jesus to ask about how he could inherit eternal life, he was asked to sell all his pos...

Eating Your Cake And Having It

Are you for Christ or the world? Ok, that's too easy. Everyone, I mean, people who have sincerely met with Christ are for Christ, and those who have not are for the world, you agree right? Good. But there are some people who have really, truly met with Christ but still find it somehow difficult to fully identify with Christ. Indeed there are some situations that even as a Christian, it becomes very difficult and challenging to stand for Christ, except you don't want to be honest with yourself. See Peter for example, he knew Christ, proclaimed Him to be the son of the living God, yet he denied that same Christ, thrice, for that matter. No one is infallible, the problem is when you refuse to do something about your fall. Despite Peter's denial of Christ, his shadow still healed the sick, that happened because he did not remain in his fallen state, he sought mercy (I'm not talking about mercy here though). "Defining 'denial', according to google simply, is ...

The Galatians of Today

In the days of Apostle Paul, the Galatians had the problem of insisting on fulfilling the requirements of the law despite their knowledge of the freedom Christ gave to all. They tried to become perfect by their own human effort, they also tried to obtain favor with God by observing certain days or months or seasons or years. They had the notion that the death of Jesus alone could not make them right with God. This really caused Apostle Paul great agony like that of a woman in labor pains, but little did he know that history was going to repeat itself. Fast forward to this day, the same issue is still recurring, we want to be right with God by our strength. This includes, for some, a compulsory attendance of all church services of the week, following rules like "I will not tell lies today", "I will not look with lust at anybody", "I will smile and I won't get angry today", and so on. You see, what Jesus did on the cross is far beyond our own personal...

In The Beginning, God

The beginning of the bible is "In beginning, God...". Before anything, God was, before creation begun, God was, before the world was formed, God was, before the making of the earth, God was, before the beautification of the heaven and the earth, God was, and even before the earth begun to bear fruits or produce anything, God was. In essence, as you are now in Christ, your beginning should be God. You should be able to trace the beginning of everything you now are, have, or do to God.  Moreover, you may be nothing now, or you may own nothing, consider it your beginning. Be glad you have God in your beginning, and you can be sure that He would start up His work of creation in you soon. This includes, setting you up, making you fruitful and so on. But most importantly, make sure He is your beginning no matter what. Since we've gotten that settled, the Holy Spirit is saying at the moment, "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth, and the earth was form...

EVANGELISM; Is there A Specific Place?

Yes, you saw it right, "evangelism". This is one word that makes most believers sick to the marrow, that thought of talking to a complete stranger about Christ or even an acquaintance, or the thought of going round the market screaming 'Jesus is Coming Soon' (lol). First of all, it is well, second of all, evangelism is not as difficult as mostly perceived. As we all know, Jesus Christ himself instructed us to go into all nations and preach the gospel, Mark 16:15.  Evangelism is simply preaching the good news (gospel) to others with the aim of converting them to Christians. Thankfully, we have people who have devoted their lives to evangelism, but disappointingly, a very good number of us have simply ignored this responsibility of ours. Somebody preached the gospel to us, why don't we just do same to others? Well, actually, the problem with most of us is, we are of the mindset that there should be a specific time, and a specific place for evangelism. This is abs...

He Is Able

Majority of us, before we met with Jesus were facing one challenge or the other, and also, now that we're in Christ, we're still facing one challenge or the other. Well the good news is, Christ in us is the hope of our glory. But despite knowing this good news, we're still weary of the fact that God is able, we still behave like those who do not have Christ. Why is that? Shouldn't we be the set of people who are always filled with joy no matter the situation, so why do we sometimes feel like God is not doing anything. Beloved, our God is the All Sufficient God, the El-Shadai, He can do it, and I pray that He would do it for you in Jesus name. As believers, we should be confident that God is able to do all things, above all we can ask or ever think. Let's view the experience of one of our founding fathers of faith, Abraham. In the book of Genesis, we read that God promised him a son, and he received it in his old age, we also read that at some point, he had a son wi...

Quiet Time Inconsistencies

We all have heard it over and over again from men of God, we've read about it, we've practiced it, we've been inconsistent with it, we've missed it, we've stopped it, we've continued with it, we've paused again, we've been on and off about it, the list is just endless. I'm talking about our quiet moments with God, where we hear directly from Him and also speak directly with Him. I don't want to dwell on the benefits of having quiet moments with the Lord because its just too much that I can't tell it all, and I want you to know it yourself, but I would discuss the quiet time in itself, and by the Grace of God, there would be an end to our inconsistencies in the name of Jesus.  Quiet time, as the name implies is the time where you wait to hear from God in a quiet state of mind, body, soul and spirit. Your remaining quiet means being still in your spirit, not burdening and boring God with your endless list of wants. You remain in total submissi...

Accommodating All

Naturally, after one has already met Jesus, there is always this tendency to see other people as nothing, I mean seeing those that are less Christians as automatic hell candidates. Or one could start feeling more better a Christian than the fellow still struggling with sin. That is wrong, and I hope you know that God has no favorites, He is pleased with as many that obey Him with all sincerity of heart. You shouldn't say because your roommate is in an ungodly relationship you are better than him or her; or because, you serve God with all you have, and now look down on those who are yet to serve God. Take the story of the landowner that hired laborers at different hours of the day, and still paid equal wages to each of them (Matt 20:1-16). I had this roommate, although a Christian but was immoral in her ways. At first, I ignored her and used to see her a sinner who covers up by going to church. After a while, the Holy Spirit showed me my wrong through Romans 14, and from then on, I...

Letting Go

After meeting Jesus, there are just so many things you would just have to let go, like your will, your bad behaviors, your pride, your ungodly friends, and including you yourself. Yea, you let go of your own self, that is the old man that you were, and start to be a new man in Christ. For today, the Holy Spirit wants to tell you about your resentments. "Resentment is a mixture of disappointment, anger, and fear. As the surprise of injustice becomes less frequent, so too does anger and fear fade -leaving disappointment as the predominant emotion (source: wikipedia)". Resentment is something most Christians don't deal with on time until it gets at them and causes a long term disaster. It could be from a childhood memory or a recent event. Whichever ways, the Holy Spirit wants you to let it go. Your resentment could be towards someone, maybe your parents, siblings, or neighbors. Well, to whomever it may be, it is time to let go. How it that possible? Sincerely, it is easier...

Your Joy or Your Problems?

Some people, even pastors have made us believe that once we're born again or live in Christ, we would be problem free. That's a big heresy, I mean its not in accordance with the word of God. What they should have said is, though you are going to face the storms of life, fear not for Jesus has overcome the world. Simply, that is what the Lord is saying today, "Fear not, for I have overcome the world". What I have to tell you today is very brief and simple, and if you're facing one challenge or the other, this is for you. Actually, before you came into the light of Christ, there were some problems you were facing, be it academics or finances, and now that you are in Christ, those problems are still there, why? Well, it is very simple. Let us use the woman Jesus Christ met at the well for example. As at the time Jesus met her, she had no husband, but after she met Jesus for whom He really his, she went home rejoicing, why? Was she rejoicing as a result of a problem s...

Would Others Say?

Often times we're in the constant fear of what others would say about us, which in itself is a norm. But now that we're in Christ, shouldn't our constant fear be of what Jesus would say? Of course, I know its not something that is very easy, but with God's intervention it is easy. Truly, the fear of what others are going to say is one of the next things that happens after meeting Jesus. For instance, you want to give up alcohol, its only humane to be afraid of what your friends would say. Or, you are in the wrong relationship, you want to call it quits, but scared of what his siblings would say. We could go on and on listing various scenarios. The truth is, most of the time, those people that are getting you worried don't really care, they do not, and that is the truth. The one who truly cares is the LORD God Almighty. Let me tell you this very personal experience to prove this to you. My dad used to really batter me like I was a kind of criminal. A day came that I ...

Who Is The True Worshiper?

"But the time is coming- indeed it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, those are who the Father seeks" John 4:23. A good number of us are familiar with this verse, but, the issue is how do we become a worshiper that the Father seeks. I know you are probably thinking a worshipper is someone who sings (smiles), that was exactly my thought sometimes ago. Worship is a lifesyle that connects you to the presence of God, that is just the simple meaning of worship. So now it is easier for us to know who a worshiper really is. Next is, 'a true worshiper', that verse above clearly explains who a true worshiper is. So, does your lifesyle connect you to heaven? If yes, wow  lucky you, but for we who are not there yet, it is well. Now that we know that God seeks those whose lifesyle connects to Him, we have no reason to be far from Him. We are no longer ignorant of the genre of people that have an amazing relationship with God, and th...

Communication, A Key to Every Healthy Realtionship

Just like every other healthy relationship, communication is paramount in one's walk wth God. Shall two walk together except they be in agreement? Of course not! So how do we communicate with God when we can't see Him nor touch Him? This is a question that took me months to answer, and I'm still in search of more anyway. But let's look at it this way, there is this book that contains the mind of God, I call it the heart of God. Yes, it's the bible. Studying the bible gives us a clearer view of God's mind, that is, we get to know who He is, what He looks like, and also what He thinks of us. God is always speaking, we just don't hear Him because our mind and spirit are not in sync with His. It is not possible to communicate with Him when we don't know His mind or when we don't even make effective attempts to know Him. Moreover, we also need to talk to God on a regular basis, that is most often through prayers. But, really, some of us know all this, ...

Giving Up All Ungodly Relationships

In this post title I used the phrase "all ungodly reationships", this is because being in Christ requires walking in the steps of Christ. I don't really know how this occurs, but naturally, you realize the people that are bad influences to Christianity and are in your life. The worst part of it is if those people are immediate family or sponsors. But then, we are faced with the option of choosing them or Christ, hmmm, trust me, it takes only the grace of God to make the right choice. In my case, I started the weeding exercise with the boyfriend I had. At that moment I ended the ungodly relationship, sincerely, I felt a heavy weight lifted off me, it is a feeling one cannot explain. Although, before His Grace helped me, I was like it would not be possible, because like every other teenager, I was head over heels in love with him. The mere thought of being without him made me nauseous, but you know, he whom Christ sets free is free indeed. And really, His grace is more th...

GETTING STARTED

So now, you are born again, whatever way it happened, whether through a pastor or through someone's testimony about Christ, that's not really our major concern here. Sincerely, there is this feeling that comes with it, especially if it was a genuine encounter you had. Next, you start hearing messages about living a sinless life, a life that pleases God. Really, this doesn't just happen magically, it takes work, faith, and the grace of God to please Him. So, from now on, we'll discuss one after the other those things we face while we trying to please God. You are free to add what you feel in the comment section.

INTRODUCTION TO MY BLOG

Hello, I am Oluwadamilola, born on 17th June, 1996. I met Jesus in my first year in school and that was the greatest moment of change for me. But then, no one really told me the pros and cons of being a follower of Christ. Really, there are cons in the Christian race that people rarely talk about, especially in this part of the world. This blog is to help discuss the challenges one must definitely face after meeting Jesus. Please stay around as we all trust the Holy Spirit in dealing with this issues while awaiting Jesus coming.
