War Against The Soul

"Dear friends, I warn you as 'temporary residents and foreigners' to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls." 1Peter 2:11 NLT.

There are times when we feel very disturbed over nothing par say. I don't know if its general, but for me, there are sometimes I just feel so disturbed within myself, without really knowing why. Some people tell me it's hormone, or period related which I doubt now. While waiting on God for today's blog post, He showed me the verse above, 1Peter 2:11. Instantly, my mind went to those times I just felt disturbed for nothing, and I realized something was waging war against my soul. The thing is, when our soul is not at peace, there is no way we can be at peace too.

Now, what I want us to realize first is that, we are temporary residents here, therefore worldly desires shouldn't be a part of us. But, we live in a world that it is not all that easy to ignore, which as a result deprives us peace of soul and mind.

You as a Christian cannot be united with the world, it just would not work. You would agree with me that at times that you do something "worldly" sort of, for example, not helping others, you tend not to have rest of mind, as in, your spirit keeps drifting away as to how you could have helped that fellow in need. So that's it, that feeling comes because your soul is not at peace. So also, is having worldly desires, they would do only nothing but wage war against your soul.

Therefore, an advice from the Bible is the verse above, to keep away. Of course I understand it is not easy to stay away totally from the desires of the world, but by gradually taking a step each day, you are on your way to having a peaceful soul. One's soul resting in peace isn't when death comes alone, one's soul can be in peace in Christ.

Things You Shouldn't Do In Church

Last week Thursday, I was in the Bible Study in my fellowship, and while the message was being preached, I rested my head on my thigh (bending forwards to rest my head, with my arms as support on my thigh), you get what I mean right? COMPETITION, is one thing, as mortal beings, we cannot but do. Thanks to Biology, competition is one of the characteristics of living things, so it's not as though it is a sin. But as a Christian, there are some things you ought to know while you are out there competing with others. 1. The aim of every competition is to win, to come out better than every other counterpart. As a matter of fact, some Christians now compete to oppress the losers so to speak. That is bad actually, and is in no way healthy.
