3 Sure Ways To Overcome Sexual Sins

Sexual sins as far as the Word of God is concerned doesn't have to be when you physically lay down with someone, nope, in as much as you think and fantasize it in your mind, you are guilty of it, Matthew 5:28 "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart". So, through the Holy Spirit, we would learn how to overcome it today.

1. First of all, having sexual urges in itself isn't a sin, it is whether we choose to dwell on it that determines if it's gonna be a sin or not. On this note, the Bible says we should flee all appearances of evil, 1Thessalonians 5:22. Don't get me wrong, sexual urges means your urogenital system is working fine. But, as a matter of fact, it leads to evil if not managed properly. For example, audiovisuals are a high leading cause of sexual sins, that is what you see tend to drive your mind to sin. So to be on a safer side, flee every appearance of evil, by not involving your sight and mind with sexual activities that may lead you to sin.

2. Second of all, this is actually something God Himself taught me. It is that you should learn to subdue the flesh, by depriving it of its desires. For example, He said, I should subdue my cravings for food and take charge, not letting my flesh dictate to me per time what I should give it. Then if I can successful control cravings for food, then I'm on my way to dealing with sexual urges that leads to sins. Therefore, as children of God that we are, we need to put our flesh under the subjection of the Spirit of God.

Romans 6:13 "Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.

3. Grow your spirit man. When your spirit man is growing, your flesh comes under an automatic subjection to it. And so, you can grow your spirit man by fasting, praying, having your quiet time with God diligently, fellowshiping with brethren, etc. This way, your spirit becomes the one in charge, and not your flesh. This way, you are also able to sufficiently convince yourself not to do that which is sinful.

"You say, Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both. 1Corinthians 6:13 "The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body." Shalom
