What Does God Say About Crushes?

Crush: A burning desire to be with someone whom you find attractive and extremely special (Urban Dictionary). **Clears throat** First of all, this is sort of like a confession moment for me. The thing is, I'm the kind that have a crush on just about anybody. Let him be tall, have great abs, be good at playing any musical instrument, them I'm just automatically gonna crush on him, (it becomes serious if he's also boxed up, lol, God forgive me, amen!). Like, it doesn't take my heart so much of a long time before it starts to "feel" or "care" for someone. But most of the time, they all end up just being an infatuation. I'm sure several of you guys are like me too, so what is God saying about crushing on somebody? "Now David's son Absalom had a beautiful sister named Tamar. And Amnon, her half brother, fell desperately in love with her. Amnon became so obsessed with Tamar that he became ill. She was a virgin, and Amnon thought he could n...

Cursing, Cussing, Swearing

Curse O.E. curs "a prayer that evil or harm befall one", "to swear profanely", (Google). We all were born into sin, therefore, it is "normal" to curse and cuss. But here we are, now in Christ, away from the acts and "normal" ways of the world, which leads us to what God has to say about cursing today. "But no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh and bitter water? Does a fig tree produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? No, and you can't draw fresh water from a salty spring." James 3:8-12 NLT.  The Bible has said it all actually, but I want to establish a basic basis. Some of us grew up to have abusive parent(s) or ...

Who Is Mr. Tongue?

This week, we would be going through a series that deals with the tongue. I'm trusting that God Himself would speak to us through this medium in Jesus Name. The tongue as it were, is what enables speech. If a man's tongue is tied or caught off, his speech becomes deterred, such that he would have difficulties in projecting clearly. Therefore, technically, without the tongue, it is impossible to talk clearly. So, what does the bible say about the tongue? In the Book of James, the tongue is an organ that cannot be tamed, that is, you cannot control it. James 3:7-8 "All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison." Well, at the same time, we ought to be able to control our tongue, but how can this be? Actually, what the tongue projects, usually, is not of itself, it says whatever you have going on in your mind. So, in order to...

What Is Your Mouth Speaking?

Out of the abundant of the heart, the mouth speaketh (Luke 6:45). Actually, for so many of us like me who are very extroverted, this is an issue. A Book of the Bible I read that chastises me every time I read it is the Book of James. No matter how frequently I read James, I feel so disappointed at how poorly I have my tongue controlled. Now the Bible says that what you have in your heart is most likely what you speak. For me, I tried so much at will to restrain myself from talking unnecessarily, but on the long run, I realized it is the heart that needs to be restrained. Jesus said that it is not what goes into a man that defiles him, but rather what comes out of him (Matthew 15:11).  I'm asking you now, what kind of thing do you have in abundance in your heart? If you harbor pride within, there's every tendency that your mouth would speak pride. If what you harbor in your heart is lust, pursuit of wealth, fame and stuff, the exact thing you speak is gonna be related to tho...

3 Reasons You Should Read Your Bible Daily

Joshua 1:8 "Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do." This Book of Instruction is our Bible, and below are three of out the zillion reasons why we should read our Bible everyday.  1. Reading your bible everyday reminds you of God's law. It reminds you of what God desires of we His children, which is centered on love. For instance, you may have read sometimes ago in your bible that every unrighteuosness is sin (1John 5:17), but over time forgot it. And as a result, you do some unrighteous things like deceiving your neighbor and you are oblivious to the fact that it is a sin. However, when you read your bible everyday, it constantly reminds you of the love and law of God.  2. Reading your Bible everyday gives you good success. I didn't say so, God did! (Joshua 1:8).  3. The Bible is God's manual to us. Actually, God create...

The Beulah Choir

I saw a very old movie yesterday, title is 'fighting temptation', a black American movie. Seeing the movie made me realize some new things. There was a choir, the Beulah Choir. It consisted of the old, the young, the 'saints', the 'sinners', the prisoners, the harlots, the drinkers, and they were all led by a liar and gold digger. But of course, there was a member of the church who stood out to condemn such a distasteful congregation of choir. I mean she was up and against having sinners in the choir. Initially, I felt the woman should be ignored as she was taking the matter too personally. Well, you know movies, it had all that happy ending and stuff. What bothered me was, what next after the happy ending? Did the sinners in the choir still continued to be sinners or did they repent and were changed for good or not? Actually, that is the situation of our churches this day, we have new members that come in just the way they are, and we accept them for whom t...

Christians And Wealth

This is a very very very controversial issue in the "Christiandom" today. Some churches believe Christians should be poor, or that Christians should not have wealth, because blessed are the poor, (lol) Matthew 5:3. And at the same time, some other churches believe that God is evident in your life through what you have, and that our God is not poor, so also, His children shouldn't be poor. While I can't tell who is right or wrong, I'd briefly share with us some Biblical truths concerning wealth in the next few paragraphs. NB: wealth here means a large amount of money and valuable possessions; the state of being rich; a large amount. (Source: Oxford English Dictionary). 1. Matthew 6:33. The bible says seek ye first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness, and all other things shall be added unto you. As children of God, the first thing that should be our major is seeking our Father's Kingdom and living righteously. I tell you, if that is not in place, seeki...

The Night Is Coming

"There's a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?" John 6:9 NLT. Are you a young man with just very little capital that's not even enough to start up a business that you so much desire? Or are you also an elderly who has what is needed to start up a business, but lack manpower? As a matter of fact, Jesus has solved it already, its just for us to realize this and get started with that plan. Actually, the matter with most of us is that we have this great idea that is enough to make us wealthy up to our fifth generation, but we are waiting for that moment when we would just wake up and someone would tell us we have become the CEO. Sincerely, it doesn't work that way. I'm still in my late teenage years, but if there's anything I have learned through my personal experiences, it is that those who start small and insignificantly are those who are more likely to excel and SUSTAIN their achievements. T...

3 Sure Ways To Overcome Sexual Sins

Sexual sins as far as the Word of God is concerned doesn't have to be when you physically lay down with someone, nope, in as much as you think and fantasize it in your mind, you are guilty of it, Matthew 5:28 "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart". So, through the Holy Spirit, we would learn how to overcome it today. 1. First of all, having sexual urges in itself isn't a sin, it is whether we choose to dwell on it that determines if it's gonna be a sin or not. On this note, the Bible says we should flee all appearances of evil, 1Thessalonians 5:22. Don't get me wrong, sexual urges means your urogenital system is working fine. But, as a matter of fact, it leads to evil if not managed properly. For example, audiovisuals are a high leading cause of sexual sins, that is what you see tend to drive your mind to sin. So to be on a safer side, flee every appearance of evil, by not involving yo...

7 Ways To Identify Wisdom From God

Wisdom, the bible says is principal to direct, Proverbs 4:7. But as we also know, wisdom can come to us and we may be tricked to believe it is from God when clearly it is not. For example, someone who steals may claim he gets wisdom from above which is false. So, below are 7 ways to identify wisdom that is from God, (James 3:17) 1. IT IS FIRST OF ALL PURE. I'd say the opposite of pure is evil, so wisdom is either pure or evil. Note the phrase "First of all", that is, before any other step or course of action, it is pure. If you believe you are wise, but evil is found in your wisdom, then your wisdom is not from above, rather it is from you and your selfish ambition. 2. IT IS ALSO PEACE LOVING. If your wisdom supports violence and promotes hate, I bet you it's not from God.  3. IT IS GENTLE AT ALL TIMES. "At all times brother" not sometimes. Wisdom from God is gentle, it doesn't requires your brash strength. 4.IT IS WILLING TO YIELD TO OTHERS. Wis...

Be A Peacemaker

I remember back in my high school days, whenever two people were involved in a fight, seriously, I always had this satisfactory feeling of having fun. In fact, most times, I encouraged the fight and hoped that no one would stand up to separate or settle the fight. This went on until the day I got involved in a fight myself, and there was also no one to stop the fight, I mean, everyone just watched with faces gleamed with satisfaction as the verbal exchanges escalated to physical combats. We both settled the issue ourselves when we got tired of the fight. At that moment, I was in pain, not as a result of the brawl, but because no one even tried to stop the fight from getting worse, including those I thought were friends. It was then that I made up my mind to always try to settle fights or quarrels (that's within my capacity tho). The bible says in the Beatitude that blessed are the peacemakers, for they would be called the children of God, (Matthew. 5:9). One of the things that ...

What Matters? The End Or Beginning!

The end of a thing is better than its beginning thereof, Ecclesiastes 7:8. The funny thing about life is that the end is usually what determines how well you have lived. Even in Christianity, it is also like that. It is whether you make heaven or not at the end that matters, and not how well a Christian you may claim to be. With this in mind, we already have what it takes to excel in whatever we do. Let's imagine this scenario, there are two people, one of them is a Christian, I mean a real Christian, and the other is the exact opposite, he doesn't know God. Then, at the end of each of their lives, the Christian made an error and ended up in hell, while the other one got born again on his death bed, and made heaven. Now, you agree with me that it is the end of a thing that really matters, though it may seen unfair, but that's just how it is. This is not to make us start living out of Christ, but to make us conscious of the fact that there is a target which we must attai...

What Is Worldly?

Sometimes, I try to buy a dress, and somewhere in my mind I hear "that is worldly". Some other times, I'm listening to a good music, and instinct just tell me "hey Miss, that's some worldly lyrics". These instances sound familiar to you right? Or you got invited to a friend's party and even before you utter a word, "worldly" has already been screamed in your head. Seriously, you are not alone in this, and that's why the Holy Spirit would be taking His time out to help us define what is worldly.  First and foremost, it is either you are in Christ, or in the world, so permit me to say that anything that is not in Christ is worldly, John 15:19. Having established that fact, we can now go ahead to draw the line between Christ and the world. Mind you, the nature of the world has become sinful from the time of the fall in the garden of Eden, Genesis 3. Therefore, there's no way you can be of the world and please God, nope, God hates sin, a...

War Against The Soul

"Dear friends, I warn you as 'temporary residents and foreigners' to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls." 1Peter 2:11 NLT. There are times when we feel very disturbed over nothing par say. I don't know if its general, but for me, there are sometimes I just feel so disturbed within myself, without really knowing why. Some people tell me it's hormone, or period related which I doubt now. While waiting on God for today's blog post, He showed me the verse above, 1Peter 2:11. Instantly, my mind went to those times I just felt disturbed for nothing, and I realized something was waging war against my soul. The thing is, when our soul is not at peace, there is no way we can be at peace too. Now, what I want us to realize first is that, we are temporary residents here, therefore worldly desires shouldn't be a part of us. But, we live in a world that it is not all that easy to ignore, which as a result deprives us peace of ...

4 Ways To Hear From God

So here is it, the posts on pursuing and the key to recovery seem to be generating more and more raised questions, but be rest assured, the Holy Spirit is here to fill you in. So, we have learned that the key to a successful pursuit is knowing the mind of God by hearing from Him, and that leads us to these 5 ways to hear from God. 1. THROUGH HIS WORDS. The Bible is where we have the Word of God that speaks life. It is more like a manual for us in this world, written by God Himself (2Timothy 3:16). The Bible says, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Honestly speaking, 95% of what I write here on this blog is inspired by the Scriptures. So Live your bible, Love it, and Lead with it! 2. THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT. The Holy Spirit is God Himself in us (John 15:26). The bible says we are the temple of God, therefore He lives in us (1Corinthians 3:16). I really cannot explain how this occurs, but God speaks to His children through the Holy Spirit. If you a...

The Key To Recovery

In retrospect to what I shared yesterday is today's post. Some guy asked me why one needs to pursue at all if at the end of the day it is what would be that would be. And seriously, the guy spoke my mind. Candidly, why should we fast and pray over something that actually God might just think, "Hmm, my child doesn't need this now, angels, let's ignore his plea". Imagine that, and the person in question is crying and waiting on God. In my ordeal, the Holy Spirit opened my senses to some things that really matter, and I pray that He will open yours now too in Jesus Name(Amen). The Holy Spirit says the reason why we have so much worry over our faith is because we do not know the mind of God over what we are seemingly trusting Him for. Most times, we just assume He's given a go ahead, when He really didn't. God's silence over a matter should not at all be mistaken for an approval. We're going to be looking at the story two kings in the bible as a ca...

What If I Pursue And Recover Not?

This is a trivial topic common amongst all ages of Christians. In fact, most people lose their faith in Christ because of this issue. You know, pursuing something, trusting God, praying about it, and yet not getting it at the end of the day. It is actually frustrating, and making it worse is the fact that we may have put all our might in it and gathered all the faith we could get believing that God would do it. The truth is God can do it, so, before you lose your faith in Christ, or pick on a quarrel with God, remember this. What you need to know is that nothing changes who God is, the fact that He chose not to give you what you want doesn't change Him from being God, therefore, your anger towards Him won't stop Him from being who He is, Malachi 3:6. Moreover, He wants the best for you, so you can be sure that whatever He does is actually the best for you at that point in time. Over the years of being a Christian, I've realized that what makes us Christians so disappoin...
