Making Out Time For God Out of "No Time"

Largely, it is very easy to "forget" God on a tight and busy day. For instance, at that moment when you have an interview or an examination scheduled for 7:30am, you have woken up late, and your adrenaline is working excessively! Surely the first thing that would be on your mind at that moment wouldn't be God, and neither would it be your devotion, nor quiet time.

Even if at all God would be on your mind at that instance, it would in aspiration for His miracles, it would be that you are hoping He would cover up your lapses. How then do one have God's time at such times?

Firstly, you need to know that God understands, He knows exactly how you feel at that moment (he knows about that hormone that has made you put Him aside), and He knows that you really wished you could make out time for Him, He understands.

Therefore, you should in that instance, not be so hard on yourself, because if you are, there's every chance that day is just going to turn out worse than you started ("screaming at the bus driver, hissing in the traffic congestion, becoming a rude person", you wouldn't want all of those, do you?).

Having understood this, you need to actually talk to God. While you are rushing and dashing to that examination hall, or running to catch that bus, speak with God, and be honest with Him.

A statement like "LORD, I'm sorry I couldn't converse with you before I left home, please pardon me" is more honorable than "Oh LORD, I screwed up, why didn't I wake up early enough? Why didn't I read my Bible? LORD, you should have made me get up early, would I even make it there on time? Why why why?" I'm sure the latter statement would further put a distance between one and God.

In essence, what I'm saying is, you should talk to God in an approachable and honorable manner, acknowledging to Him that you have done wrong by not making Him your first that day, then ask Him for His Mercy and Grace. Often times, His Mercy and Grace wins out. But of course, you shouldn't stop there, the day has just started, and you are gonna have a break time, closing time, pastime, time for naps, etc.

So now, if during your break time, you "forget" God again, you know, you choose food over your devotion, then I'm afraid, it's gonna be a sin, remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do, yet not do it (Romans 14:23). Common, God has pardoned you the first time, don't abuse that Grace.

"What then, shall we continue in sin and expect Grace to abound? God forbid!" Romans 6:1. To be honest, out of the "no-time", there would still always be time.

Look at it this way, if God who watches over every of His children in Africa, America, Asia, Australia, Europe, and still has time for you, I see no reason why anything should stop you from having His own time. Yes He can do that because He is God, how about you? Haven't you been made to be in His image? Hasn't the blood of Jesus bought back that life of God for you? "I say, 'You are god; you are all children of the Most High'" Psalm 82:6.

Besides, the one and only person you are gonna be doing a favour is "you", so it is all for your own good if you reverence God, and let Him have your break time, or your pastime. "Study this Book of Instructions continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do" Joshua 1:8 NLT.

I do pray that this little piece would do much more in making you have God's time in Jesus name. May the Grace of the LORD be with you always.
Shalom

Nice one Sis Dami. We must try our possible best not to allow anything to hinder our communication with God. The moment this fails, then one's fall is imminent.
