"Must Do" List; Adults Only!!!
Yikes! It's Easter. (Our little secret: I have totally forgotten about dieting (who cares anyway? Lol).
Happy Easter everybody, may the joy of this Season never cease our homes, Amen.
Last week, some random thoughts just occurred to me, and almost suddenly and quietly, I realized I would be turning "the big twenty" in less than six months, (It's actually in three months time :( I'd really miss being a teenager).
Psalm 90:12 NLT "Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom."
I got talking with God, one thing led to another, and now, I have a list of what a Christian should achieve, or have achieved as an adult. You might not as well agree with everything on this list, that's not an issue. God gave them to me personally, you can as well, ask Him for what He specifically wants for you. Are we clear here though?
NB: Adult here means, a matured in Christ.
1. As an adult, you should know, or have found out the purpose for your existence. If you yet haven't, please do, otherwise, you would wake up on your sixtieth birthday, and realize you've done apparently nothing with your life. Jeremiah 29:11 NLT "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
2. As an adult, you should begin to store up your treasures in Heaven. Common, it's our aim, to make Heaven, isn't it? Yes, so it's better to be broke here on earth, than to be broke in Heaven. Matthew 6:20 NIV "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal."
3. An adult in Christ should already be Christ like in all ramifications. If as an adult, you still have some areas in your life where Christ is not clearly expressed, then there might be a problem. Colossians 2:6-7 NLT "And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness."
4. A matured man or woman in Christ, whom has discovered his/ her purpose should do things that would eventually lead him to his purpose. Jesus was only 12 when he chose to remain in the LORD's temple (Luke 2:41-52). For instance, for someone whose purpose is to lead people to Christ through music, where does he need to be? Or for someone whose purpose is to take care of the sick, of course he should start getting familiar with the medical world.
5. And finally, an adult needs to start a family. Or better put, "be joined with his better half". Malachi 2:15 NLT "Didn't the LORD make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth."
So, these are just the five that I'm at liberty to share with you. In other words, get your pen and your journal, talk to God too, and surely, He would give you a concise list of what He wants you to start doing.
Enjoy your Easter friends, Shalom.
