"Must Do" List; Adults Only!!!

Yikes! It's Easter. (Our little secret: I have totally forgotten about dieting (who cares anyway? Lol). Happy Easter everybody, may the joy of this Season never cease our homes, Amen. Last week, some random thoughts just occurred to me, and almost suddenly and quietly, I realized I would be turning "the big twenty" in less than six months, (It's actually in three months time :( I'd really miss being a teenager). Psalm 90:12 NLT "Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom." I got talking with God, one thing led to another, and now, I have a list of what a Christian should achieve, or have achieved as an adult. You might not as well agree with everything on this list, that's not an issue. God gave them to me personally, you can as well, ask Him for what He specifically wants for you. Are we clear here though? NB: Adult here means, a matured in Christ. 1. As an adult, you should know, or have found out the purpose...

Secular Movie 2

And finally, we're concluding on the secular movie segment. From the comments that were made in the last post, I really did not feel the need to still go on to conclude again. I mean, the comment just sort of warped up everything more that could have been said, the LORD still got a few words on the matter though. First is, be mindful of who you fed, is it your flesh or your spiritual man? Do not gratify the body at the expense of you spiritual self. Matthew 26:41 NIV "Watch and pray so you do not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." Secondly, remember that you become a slave to whatever you let control you. Please, do not become a movie slave (or any other secular thing), he who the Son sets free is free indeed, friend. 2Peter 2:19 NLT "They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you." And lastly, in everything you do, always obey the voice of the Ho...

Secular Movie 1

Yea, still on the matter, "secular movies". Just so you know, I'm as expectant as you are on this issue, keep calm, and let's learn together. Normally, I feel people (Christians now), just watch movies to relax, have fun, and feel good, without actually giving much thoughts on the secularism of those movies, at least that is what it is for me. However, we should remember the Bible verse that says, "Be careful, be vigilant, your adversary, the devil, goeth about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." 1Peter 5:8. You may say, "how does this apply to an innocent movie?" Actually, we have to be very careful, because sometimes, what may seem innocent, could be something that's lethally dangerous. And really, the more I dig into this matter, the more complicated it becomes. We talk about the secular music, the movie, how about the secular world itself? Aren't the clothing made by Hollywood designers supposed to be secular too, ...

Secular Movies? Are you for real?

Somehow, I told a friend about a movie I saw, and at the same time, also recommended the movie to him. Much to my surprise he said, "So Christians are not allowed to listen to secular music, how come no one is talking about the secular movies?" Hello everyone, hope we have been good? When he, (my friend above) accused me of watching and promoting secular movies, I actually found it very difficult to express myself, that was like the first time I'd hear such a thing as "secular movies", seriously? Now here is the deal, a lot of us go to the movies, stream movies online, watch them on DVD, without seeing much of a big deal in them, but actually, there are big deals! Well, plainly speaking, there is nothing wrong in seeing a movie, however, as Christians, we have to be mindful of the kind of movies we see. The cliche, "What would Jesus do?" is the absolute answer when situations like this arises. Ephesians 5:1-2 "Imitate God, therefore, in ev...

Hey! That's My Window Seat!!!

I was in a public bus earlier in this week, and something I didn't quite appreciate happened. I got in an argument with some guy over a seat in the bus, you know, I wanted the window seat, he wanted it too! I mean, what kinda guy fights with a lady over a window seat, huh? Anyways, I had no choice but to let it go, although very disappointing, because he had started to raise his voice at me, really??? Courtesy actually demanded that he let the lady have it her way, and he behaved like a proper gentle man. To further worsen the matter, I had a feeling he was a Christian, because, he didn't join the other commuters in chanting the Islamic verses as they prayed. I realized we were the only ones mute in the bus, possibly the only Christians there, couldn't even imagine what the Muslims there must have thought of the both of us. So, what exactly went wrong with the both of us? We both claimed to be right, no one apologized to the other, and we got busy with our phones and ...

"Me-Time" With God

Yuppie! I'm done with my exams for this semester, so, "What Next After Meeting Jesus" has actively resumed. Now, straight to business, I'm gonna ask you a question. How often do you go on a personal retreat? I mean, how often do you declare some "alone time" with God? By definition, retreat is the act or process of moving back or away, especially from something hazardous, formidable, or unpleasant: made a retreat from hectic city life to the country." (Credit: thefreedictionary.com). Retreat in this context is, moving away from your normal schedule, to having some quiet moments with the LORD, alone. As a matter of fact, you actually are owing God your time. All those days that you have failed to pray, times when you skipped and missed your devotion, don't you think you owe God? I think I owe God anyways. A timely retreat compensates for those lost moments, it makes God see your love for Him, and it makes Him tell you those things He's been...

David & Bathsheba, Who Is To Blame?

In my last post, I talked about "the other woman" that is supposedly intimate with a married man. And really, that got some of my close friends talking. Their reactions: "Dammy, how can you just put the other woman alone in the limelight?" "What if the other woman was actually being pressurized by the man? She could have been a victim of blackmail after all" "Yea, the other lady is so so wrong, but the wife of the man also has her faults, I mean, how on earth should your hubby who is a man of God slip right under your watch as a woman of God too, huh? A responsible wife has the responsibility of protecting what belongs to her, husband included!!!" Ok ok ok, you all are somewhat right, "the other lady" is not the only one at fault here. But then, I still believe we should call a spade a spade, I see no reason trying to turn tables around, or trying to defend the other lady, c'mon, we all are here to learn. Now, to address th...
