Christian Life, Sex Life, and Real Life; Marriage
"So I say to those who aren't married and to widows - it's better to stay unmarried just as I am. But if they can't control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It is better to marry than to burn with lust".
1 Corinthians 7:8-9 NLT
Last week, we were deeply concerned on how to maintain sexual purity, even as a mature adult. Mature adult here means that, you have found your purpose and are walking in it. You know what you want, you know where you are and you know where you are going. You know good from bad, and right from wrong.
From the opening scripture above, the counsel is to get married. However, most people still feel they aren't ready yet, they still have some things not figured out yet. But who says you must have everything figured out before you put a ring on it? The truth is, till one dies, one would never have everything figured out.
In the early days, marrying as a virgin wasn't farfetched. The reason was simply because they mostly married early. A girl, at thirteen gets married, she has no reason to have been wayward. I mean, marriage was at the point where sexual hormones began to show face. But today, at twenty five, a lady is still single, at thirty, a man is still waiting to have everything figured out, and as children of God, the expectation is to remain pure.
Although one shouldn't get married solely for the purpose of sexual gratification, sex still forms a larger percentage of marriage. You are matured, you can provide food for at least two, you got a roof over your head, you have a partner whom you both have a future in view, please, tie the knot. Marriage is not a shameful thing, it is honorable. You shy away from marriage, yet you don't shy away from romance, why are you lying to yourself?Hebrews 13:4
Dear reader, would you rather keep fornicating, preventing pregnancies, and presenting a "godly" face to the church? Or honorably get married with what you have and peace of mind? You don't even necessarily must start having children immediately, you can take your time.
Many of our parents struggle today not really because of anything, but as a result of the lifestyle they chose before getting married. God cannot be mocked you know. Find me a struggling couple, and I'd show you a couple that dishonored or still dishonors God's word. Yeah, there is Grace, but we surely cannot continue in sin and expect God's Grace to abound, can we? No! Romans 6:1
Think about this, and make your choice. The series continues next week.
Thank you for reading.
