The Secrets of Achieving a Goal

This is the seveenteeth day of the year 2017, and I'm sure a number of us have already spelt out our goals (and resolutions) for the year.
Hab 2:2 "And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make [it] plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it."

However, why do you think your goals of 2016 were all not achieved? Well, it's simple, it probably because you haven't yet discovered the secrets of goals.

I read a book "Goals", two years ago, that by the Holy Spirit taught me the secrets of achieving a goal. So, now, I'd give briefs on the secrets that would help make your 2017 goals much more achievable.

1. Your goals should be SMART,
which literally means, "specific", "measurable", "achievable", "realistic", and "timely". An illustration that quickly summarizes this is, "sowing and reaping". When you plant a seed, you are specific about the kind of seed you're planting, say an orange seed.  The growth of the seed becomes measurable, you can see the shoot coming out, you can see it flowering, and you can see it grow big. Planting and harvesting oranges from an orange seed is achievable because some people have done it before. Really, there's nothing new under the sun. Your potential harvest of orange is realistic because you're expecting orange from an orange tree, and not mango nor watermelon. One of the basic rules of life is, you reap what you sow. Sow an orange seed, and you reap oranges, it's that simple. And yes, sowing and reaping is timely. Orange is errm, biennial, I guess (I'm sorry, I don't know agriculture like that). But the point is, for every plant, there is a timing, that is there is planting season, and there's harvesting time.

2. Split your goals into sub-goals. Yeah, I know that's not clear, I don't get that too. What this means is that, you should make smaller goals from your goal. Those smaller goals are the ones that you could do daily or weekly, and which would ultimately lead you to the big goal. For example, one of my goals for this year is to learn a foreign language (French precisely). Now, the big goal is to learn French, but my smaller goals are:
a) Register in French lesson whether online or offline
b)  Learn a new French word daily
c) Find a community where they speak French to increase my rate of fluency, e.t.c.

So that's it, make as many smaller goals as possible from the big goal, it really helps.

3. Lastly, have a person to whom you would be accountable. This someone is whom you deeply trust, and wants the best for you. I tell you, no other person is best fit for this position other than God. And I seriously hope you're doing well with your relationship with God? If not, please retrace your steps because God didn't move, you did . If you're not in good terms with God, who else would be there for you?  Who would make it rain, make the sun shine in your favor? Sweetheart, please make sure you're friends with Jesus.

I believe this has helped not just me, but you.....  Remember NO ONE's got your back like our God.
Shalom.
