Marrying For Beauty?7

First of all, one of the important choices one would have to make after meeting Jesus is the choice of a marriage partner (if single). Your spouse can make or mar you. You can either choose to marry someone with whom you can attend to Spiritual matters, or marry someone that is just indifferent. Our choices really matter greatly because, our partners are indirectly going to determine our continuity with God.

For instance, if a young Christian man gets hooked up with a lady who is not a child of God, the young man's relationship with God is definitely going to be at stake, and vice versa. Although, there are rare cases, like the Prophet Hosea whom God told to marry a prostitute. But the truth remains, "being unequally yoked with unbelievers is not God's way". Therefore, below is to aid our decision when it comes to that choice of a marriage partner. 2Corinthians 6:14.

BEAUTY IS VAIN (Proverbs 31:30). To say the truth, everyone of us has an imagination of what our future partner ought to look like. But friend, do not make beauty your topmost priority while choosing. Beauty queens marry football stars, yet their marriages still crash. I hope you're thinking what I'm thinking?

Sometimes ago, I spoke with some lady, and all she could think about was "He MUST be tall, handsome, this, that." No one is saying you shouldn't marry a pretty lady or an handsome man, but be sure that is not just the reason why you want to spend the rest of your life with them.

I am also guilty of this too, you know, we want to be with someone we can boldly show to the world. So, instead of looking out for someone that is an embodiment of Christ, we seek someone whom is an embodiment of that which the world wants to see (the figure 8, the tall, the dark, and the handsome). Of course, if the figure 8 or the handsome is an embodiment of Christ Jesus, then good for you. But if not, please choose God's will.

I'm actually writing this piece because my heart is weeping for the many of us who are still making beauty our topmost priority. Look at our parents for instance, if they had also stuck to "beauty or nothing", I'm sure several of us wouldn't have been born. Dear sister in the LORD, you do not want to marry a short man, please how many tall men are in your own family or have you created, huh? And as for you brother, you don't want to marry a sister who is not a beauty queen, how much have you even invested in beauty pageants, tell me? How many have you sponsored?

God is making me write this out of a burden. Young men and women are losing God to beauty these days, please wake up. Marriage is beyond how he or she is looking now, it goes beyond whether or not she wears makeup. This day, God is encouraging you to "stick with" that person He is pointing out to you. And if beauty and physical appearance is so much important to you, buy them things that would make them look good to you (things you know Jesus would buy of course).

I think I need to stop it right here.

Remember, beauty is vain, don't get deceived by the devil. James 1:16. God loves you, and wants the best for you. Shalom.
